Data Analysis Tools

  • Excel
    • Microsoft Excel is the most common tool used for manipulating spreadsheets and building analyses. With decades of development behind it, Excel can support almost any standard analytics workflow and is extendable through its native programming language, Visual Basic. Excel is suitable for simple analysis, but it is not suited for analyzing big data  
  • SAS  
    • SAS is a command-driven software package used for statistical analysis and data visualization. It is available only for Windows operating systems. It is arguably one of the most widely used statistical software packages in both industry and academia.
  • Jupyter Notebook
    • The Jupyter Notebook is an open source web application that you can use to create and share documents that contain live code, equations, visualizations, and text.
  • R
    • R is a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. It  provides a wide variety of statistical (linear and nonlinear modelling, classical statistical tests, time-series analysis, classification, clustering, …) and graphical techniques, and is highly extensible. 
  • Python 
    • Python is a computer programming language often used to build websites and software, automate tasks, and conduct data analysis. Python is a general-purpose language, meaning it can be used to create a variety of different programs and isn’t specialized for any specific problems.
  • NVivo
    • NVivo is a software program used for qualitative and mixed-methods research. Specifically, it is used for the analysis of unstructured text, audio, video, and image data, including (but not limited to) interviews, focus groups, surveys, social media, and journal articles.
  • OpenRefine 
    • OpenRefine is a powerful free, open source tool for working with messy data: cleaning it; transforming it from one format into another; and extending it with web services and external data.

  • Microsoft Power BI
    • Power BI is an interactive data visualization software product developed by Microsoft with a primary focus on business intelligence. It is part of the Microsoft Power Platform
  • Qlik
    • Qlik is a software vendor specializing in data visualization, executive dashboards and self-service business intelligence products. 
  • Tableau 
    • Tableau is a software company that offers collaborative data visualization software for organizations working with business information analytics. Organizations use Tableau to visualize data and reveal patterns for analysis in business intelligence, making the data more understandable.
  • Looker Studio
    • Looker Studio, formerly Google Data Studio, is  a web-based data visualization tool that helps users build customized dashboards and easy-to-understand reports.
