Laudato Si'

Both Notre Dame of Maryland University and Loyola University Maryland have committed to the University Pathways Laudato Si' goals, which include:

fostering ecological economics
adopting sustainable lifestyles
fostering ecological education
fostering ecological spirituality
building community resilience & empowerment

Laudato Si’ (PDF) is an encyclical that Pope Francis wrote in 2015. In it he centers the ecological crisis, recognizes the integrated ways in which our lives and our communities are connected to the earth, and encourages us to respond to the urgent needs of our common home.

Gator Thrift
Gator Thrift is a free thrift store open to all NDMU students, faculty, and staff made possible through partnerships with Sharp Dressed Man and Dress for Success. Located in Theresa Hall 116 and Theresa Hall 122, Gator Thrift emphasizes access and sustainability. The program has expanded this year to include Gator Thrift on the Go community pop-ups at the Govans Branch Library.
Gator Groceries
In collaboration with the Maryland Food Bank, Gator Groceries offers a variety of services to the NDMU community and extended community including a 24/7 food pantry, grocery distribution service on the third Friday of each month, and food education courses focused on nutrition and avoiding food waste.
