Display Options

Selecting Bible Display Versions

Click on View at the top of the Browse Window screen, and then select Choose Display Version(s).

Dictionaries & Lexicons

Select the Book icon above the Browse window.

Using the Timeline Feature

Select the Clock icon above the Analysis window.

Browse Window

The Browse Window displays a specific passages of Scripture in different translations or versions (e.g., Hebrew or Greek).

Use the Browse Window to jump to a particular verse or passage. Choose book, chapter, and verse from the drop-down menus at the top of the Browse Window.

To toggle between the two Browse Window modes, click on the View pull-down, select Browse Window, then select Toggle Browse Mode. The two modes display:

  • the single verse/passage in the display versions that you have selected (e.g., NRSV, NIV, Hebrew, etc.).
  • the verses before and after the verse you are searching. This allows you easily to see the context of the verse or passage.

Analysis Window

The Analysis Window can be used to study the meanings and usage of individual words in the verses.  

The Analysis tab within the Analysis Window displays information about words in the Browse Window. As your mouse moves over words in the Browse Window, information about that word from reference sources (lexicons, dictionaries, grammars, etc.) will be displayed.

How to do a Bible verse study

Type the reference in the search window: e.g., Gen 1.1, Ex 3.13-15. Use the first two or three letters for the book (e.g, “Ex” instead of “Exodus”) or the full name. The verse will appear in the Browse Window for each translation and in the Hebrew.

When you hover the cursor of your mouse over the Hebrew words in the Analysis window, you will see the parsing and translation of the word. See example above.

How to do a keyword or concordance search

Enter a word or multiple words in the search window. You must use the following control characters that determines the type of search to be done.

  • . (full stop) Finds all verses with both words entered (e.g .Jesus Paul);
  • / (forward slash) Finds all verses with either words entered (e.g /Jesus Paul);
  • ' (single quote) Finds all verses with the exact phrase (e.g ‘Jesus Our Lord);

You may also use the following to truncate words:

  • * (asterisk) for zero or more characters, e.g. .heaven* = heaven, heavens & heavenly
  • ? (question mark) for one character, e.g. .heaven? = heavens...”
  • [ ] (brackets) to show character possibilities, e.g. .wom[ae]n = women & woman...”.
